Well, the 4th hurricane has hit Florida within a six week period.
Florida is zapped out....frazzled.
With Charley, everyone ran around getting everything prepared....doing what we've been mentally trained to do. Stocking up, preparing, and acting quickly. Shocklingly in the past, the mind-set was to go away from the shoreline areas, perhaps the middle of the state....HA, the middle of the state got creamed. Who'd figure? Then with Frances, the other coast prepared for the worse and once again, the center of the state got creamed again. Who'd figure? After Ivan ripped through the panhandle, Jeanne hit the eastcoast and creamed the entire middle and western part of Florida too. But by Jeanne everyone was too tired to prepare, too tired to evacuate. We've been trapped in our houses for weeks. People were getting burned out and not caring. Many people were not evacuating. Worn out from living in shelters for so long.
Some people never took down their boards...just left them up in the windows. Being without power is a weird thing too. The scary part is that many waterlines broke (including in my city) and they were telling the people to boil the water before using it. BUT, when no one has any power they don't know it, no way for anyone to tell you. All in all everything at my house is not severe..no flooding, or tree limbs in my livingroom...so we're okay.
