| Lightning Strikes Yeah, we had a scare Tuesday. I was out to lunch with my best friend when her brother Leif was hit by lightning. We picked up his wife from their Tarpon office and drove her home so they could head over to the hospital. Leif and his wife Anna, also a doctor, own a little farm about an hour out of the city and Leif was there taking care of the animals. He happened to be carrying a pig to the barn. He had on rubber knee-high boots and the barn had an aluminum roof, but it was still hit. the lightening went through him and dispersed into the pig and killed it. If he wasn't carrying the pig, he may have died. He's doing okay, but has these really wild flower/veiny-looking burns all over him. They flew him to Tampa becasue he was saying he felt like his inside organs were on fire.

A man was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital after he and his pig were struck by a bolt of lightning Tuesday afternoon, Pasco County Fire Rescue reported. The man was identified by WTSP-Ch. 10 as Dr. Leif Lange, 30, a doctor who operates chiropractic clinics in Dade City and Tarpon Springs. Battalion Chief Greg Gude said Fire Rescue got a 911 call from Lange at 2:47 p.m. after he apparently had crawled the 150 yards from his barn, where he was tending to a pig, to his home at 26524 Fields Farm Lane. "He obviously received a high voltage of energy from what appeared to be a lightning strike," Gude said. "The pig did not survive the lightning strike." Medics from an advanced life support unit in San Antonio found Lange lying on the floor in his home when they arrived about 18 minutes later. The response time was influenced by heavy rains and Lange's location more than a mile down a dirt road, Gude said. Lange was able to answer questions and carry on a conversation while the medics treated him, Gude said. He was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, where he was undergoing a series of tests, WTSP reported. No further information was available about his condition. Lange's father, Herbert, told the television station that his son bought the black pig for $5 from someone a few months ago.

| Re: Lightning Strikes Christy, that is terrible. So sorry to hear this news. Please let these know there is some prayers coming from the West Coast. Do you have any suspicious feelings about that strike? Like something that wasn't exactly a natural thing? Just wondering. Mary Look Up ~ Speak Out |

| Re: Re: Lightning Strikes Mary, that is sooo wild you ask this. We've been getting a lot of really odd lightning storms lately. Now, I've lived here since I was a little girl and I've never seen such odd lightning as I have this summer. Lightning in the same spot over and over making repiticious patterns. I've reseached alot of Nikola Tesla and science-based material and one thing I've learned is the vast difference in appearance between natural lightning and man-made lightning. Natural lightning searches a strike from the ground and when you see lightning it's of a vertical nature seeking a ground. Man-made lighten has point A and point B, usually in a horizonal nature or double ended arching fashion. And that's exactly what has been flooding our skies. It's been incredible. Giagantic arching or horizontal lightning. Last night we had a lightning storm for about an hour in the same spot with no rain, no thunder, with mini bolts shooting left to right, where you could see both ends of the lightning. Really bizzare. Science playing with Mother Nature? Who knows these days.
Thanks for your prayers

| Re: Re: Re: Lightning Strikes Christy, I'm so glad you brought this up! As you know, I'm not one to comment on unusual weather because I believe such things on CT message boards are too often made with lack of knowledge. .....HOWEVER.... I've lived here for 20 years and have never experienced the results of a near by lightning strike. About two weeks ago on a Thursday, lightning struck outside my apartment during a severe thunderstorm and blew out my MSN tv unit (a big spark came out of the front). The best way to describe this lightning strike was like a firecracker going off in my living room. The power didn't go out. Only the phone line seemed to absorb the strike. I figured that was a unique event which can happen once in a while in our area. So I bought a new MSN tv unit the next day and made sure I also got a phone surge plug to be safe. The following Tuesday, THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED! The lightning strike as identical and I lost my new MSN tv unit as well! I called TECO to ask if something could be causing me to attract lightning and I was told that many people in my area had been hit several times in only one week! I agree, something's wrong with this picture. BTW, I bought yet another MSN tv unit but I now make sure to disconnect it from the phone jack every time I go off line. |

| Re: Lightning Strikes I've been unplugging my computer if there is lightning around. I had an odd thing happen to my computer last night. I'm only taking one class this summer and I had a bunch of homework to do and my computer wouldn't go on-line.(I had to get out the wires and hook up via telephone) I have cable and it's wireless with the hub center in the other room. Nothing was wrong with my computer but the unit in the other room was fried...and I mean HOT. It got some sort of charge through the cable... and a couple weeks ago my neighbor kept complaining (they have the same type of set-up as we do) that his unit kept getting zapped and was being fried too. It's weird because we all have surge protectors AND we're on different lines ...same company but between our properties is the dividing line. His lines go to the east and mine go to the west....same with our electric too.

| Re: Lightning Strikes Whew. I'm suprised that the Rense article didn't mention Leif. That was on tuesday too. All over the news. Yeah, the lightning this summer is wild. Not much rain my way though. Tarpon doesn't get near as much rain compared to everyone else.
