| Here we go So, John Kerry announces his choice for VP and receives a boost in support over the past couple of days. Today, we are told of a new terrorist threat with the main goal of disrupting the election. Yeah, nothing political about this. The last election was disrupted with no aid from terrorists. It would be nice if they could at least be specific about just what American citizens are supposed to do as a reaction to these terror warnings. Otherwise, what's the point of tellling us at all?

| Re: Here we go Hi Gar Fla.. I think the point is to keep us living in some hazy state of pre-panic. The unknown is far more disturbing to people. They don't want us to have a plan. I am beginning to feel more like Allen. The signs are there that Bush is going to be re-selected. He has denied initiating the draft and throwing that ball to Kerry, the voting methods are bogus, the F9/11 Movie might be helping him plus no one can stand Kerry.. and then there is Nader plus others joining the race to OUR bottom.. Some people aren't voting at all. The group of 400 attorneys claim to be poised to impeach Bush in case he is re-selected has said that if there was a low voter turn out they would need fewer signatures to get this accomplished. That is what they did to Grey Davis, California Governor. It makes sense, I know voting is a futile activity anymore, I can't stand Kerry, Bush is not an option and I don't want to vote for Nader or the Green guy. This is really scary and weird, guys. Appreciate your opinions. Mary Look Up ~ Speak Out | Swedishoo Admin Posts: 690 (7/8/2004 11:34:43 PM)
| Re: Re: Here we go Mary, I TOTALLY hear ya. I will not vote for Bush, I hate Kerry with a passion, Nadar is a nimrod...who the hell else is there???? I'm hoping and praying for someone..anyone.. who will jump into this race that will be a REAL asset to our country and not just another PLAYER. I'm so sick of the politics and BS.
You know what creeps me out is how Kerry's wife (which are what I'd consider, newlyweds but sure don't seem it) was married to a Senator whose father was a Bonesman and now remarries another Senator who is also a Bonesman...how weird. Keeping it in the family I guess.
Christy
This election is DOOMED
I have to add how I also think it's a bit premature for them to be "advertising" terrorist threats at election when election is 5 months away. Alot can happen between now and then and something just doesn't seem KOSHER...lol *snort snort* | gar fla Posts: 148 (7/9/2004 2:56:12 AM)
| Re: Re: Re: Here we go This whole thing sucks so bad, I'm staying home on election day. While I'd like to see Bush replaced with someone else, Kerry is nothing but a true liberal acting like a conservative in order to get votes. That kind of deceit defines the person he really is. I thought the Bush-Gore race was lame but this one takes the cake. Just think if someone like Ron Paul were to ever run for president. But as long as the sheep want someone in office who they know is telling them only what they want to hear, such a wish will remain impossible. Why do you think Clinton was so popular. He was a BS artist and knew full well that the people were aware of it. | Swedishoo Admin Posts: 690 (7/9/2004 4:49:35 AM)
| Re: Here we go I think there should be a checkbox to vote for "Neither" and if "Neither" wins, then they have to find all new canidates.
Hmmm, I'd love to see Ron Paul too. Hmmm, what if there was a huge (and it would have to be huge) national "write-in" campaign for Ron Paul. That would be something!

As others have pointed out, Ron Paul has been rather squishy on the I Tax issue thru the years. Also he voted for giving Bush Baby carte blanche to deal with Iraq- I'm not sure how he voted on the Patriot Act. I'll pass on him thanks.

| Re: Ron Paul Christy, that idea for a "write in" would be great. I'm willing to bet even most Republicans no longer agree with Bush and company but have no choice but to go along with their policy for fear of looking bad in the eyes of the public. Ron Paul is probably the [b\]only one who speaks his mind and doesn't care what others think. Anyone with doubts about him should read this speech.....

Pentagon: Some Bush records destroyed
'Inadvertent destruction' of payroll microfilm in experiment
The Associated Press
Updated: 10:49 a.m. ET July 09, 2004 WASHINGTON - Military payroll records that could more fully document President Bush’s whereabouts during his service in the Texas Air National Guard were inadvertently destroyed, according to the Pentagon. In a letter responding to a freedom of information request by The Associated Press, the Defense Department said that microfilm containing the pertinent National Guard payroll records was damaged and could not be salvaged. The damaged material included payroll records for the first quarter of 1969 and the third quarter of 1972.
“President Bush’s payroll records for those two quarters were among the records destroyed,” wrote C.Y. Talbott, of the Pentagon’s Freedom of Information and Security Review section. “Searches for back-up paper copies of the missing records were unsuccessful.”
In February, the White House released some payroll and medical records from Bush’s Vietnam-era service to counter Democrats’ suggestions that he shirked his duty in the Texas Air National Guard.
Bush was in the Texas Air National Guard from 1968 to 1973, much of the time as a pilot, but never went to Vietnam or flew in combat. Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic presidential candidate, is a decorated Vietnam veteran, and some Democrats have questioned whether Bush showed up for temporary Guard duty in Alabama while working on a political campaign during a one-year period from May 1972 to May 1973.
Bush had asked to be able to transfer temporarily from the Texas Guard to an Alabama base during that time so he could work on the Senate campaign of a family friend. Reports differ on how long he was actually in Alabama, but it’s generally believed that he returned to his Texas unit after the November 1972 election. The White House says Bush went back to Alabama again after that.
The Pentagon letter said that in 1996 and 1997, the Pentagon “engaged with limited success in a project to salvage deteriorating microfilm.” During the process, “the microfilm payroll records of numerous service members were damaged,” the letter said.
This process resulted in “the inadvertent destruction of microfilm containing certain National Guard payroll records,” including Bush’s, the letter said.

None of the above.
It is time for a clean sweep- get rid of ALL the inside the beltway politicians regardless of whom they are or what they say and start fresh. We need Statesmen, as the Founders wanted.
I can tell you several little stories as to why this is so important. Will it ever happen? Highly doubtful.
As a minor example; we have a State rep (black lady) who is really nice and when she got elected, her firm intention was to make a positive difference- to make the government run the way it was supposed to according to the law and the will of the people. I forget her name at the moment but a couple of people from the Jefferson Forum and RT have met with her and talked to her. When she first took office she was highly motivated and doing what she said she was going to do for the people that elected her. She wasn't in there a year and one afternoon (she has a couple teenage sons) when one of the boys was walking home from school, a cop car stopped him on a street near his home, the two cops in it got out and beat the living hell out of the boy, broke his jaw and put him in the hospital for several days. She didn't get the message and kept on as she had. A month or so later, the same thing happend to the younger boy- this time she got the message. The last time anyone from the freedom groups talked to her, she told them she still believed fully in what she had before but that her hands were basically tied. She would do what she could for the people of her district within the "boundaries" she was allowed, but if she stepped outside those, her family's lives weren't worth a plugged nickle. So it goes not just here, but ALL over America today... Allen | Swedishoo Admin Posts: 690 (7/10/2004 9:03:57 PM)
| Lotto Elections For years my father has talked about his idea. That state and federal officals should be elected through a lottery-style election. That names of registered drivers who have no criminal record get put into a pool of names to be drawn as a public service to society and they will get paid handsomely (as they already do) and only for one year or one term (so that way they don't get to rub elbows and learn any dirty tricks) Government would be on the up and up, each offical would have a job requirement given to them, and be required to read every bill, for example. It's a known fact that House reps spend most of their two year term campaigning to be re-elected for the next election. This would stop cold turkey if we had a lottery-style system. Special intertest groups and the career politican croonies would dissappear overnight. People in hopes (or in fear) of winning the lotto would want to stay informed and educated in government issues and it would create a new awareness level.
Food for thought.

| Re: Re: Lotto Elections Thanks Al, that was nice of you to say that. Of course too much is on the line for politicians to lose, so a lotto-style system would never happen... but if it could happen, it would solve a lot of problems that we see today. Could you just imagine what election day would be like? LOL Every man and woman in the nation would be glued to the tv or radio! LOL
