The barren desert of Darfur is littered with emaciated refugees. Sluggish, heavy-eyed, they do not hear or see you. Their faces are empty, drained by heat and hunger. The heat -- 115 degrees in the shade -- makes one faint, rippling the air, almost hallucinogenic.
Death is everywhere. The wadis -- dried-up riverbeds that are the safest places to sleep -- are littered with the carcasses of dead cattle. The ribs of the thousands of wandering refugees are visible from a distance. Flies are the only thriving form of life. They are their own beast -- a dark, crowded, furious haze.

This is not Rwanda, this is happening now, in Sudan and dying in Chad.
Since early 2003, government forces and government-supported militias have been responsible for massacres, widespread rape, forced displacement and bombing of civilians in the western region of Darfur, Human Rights Watch charges. A million people have become refugees, about 30,000 killed and up to 120,000 have fled to camps in neighboring Chad.
Now get this...."Chad stands to earn $10 billion from Africa’s biggest development project, but human rights groups say it is already having a negative impact on ordinary people. Human rights groups have criticised the project, saying it is damaging water supplies and depriving farmers of their land. The project, led by a consortium consisting of the oil firms Exxon Mobil, Petronas and Chevron, involves a 1,070-kilometre pipeline to pump the oil from landlocked Chad through Cameroon....According to the consortium, Chad has enough oil to produce 225,000 barrels per day for the next 25 years. This was last year and now look what has happened to the people. Most are dead or near death.
It is reported that the refugees are in such a remote area of the desert that aid is almost impossible to get to them. No one has came to help these dying except for the MSF.

So, to summerize, we have genocide happening once again....In an oil-rich country. No aid for the dying except from an independant volunteer group.

This should not suprise you. Most people did not even hear about the fact that Bush sent a small number of troops to both countries supposedly to "locate and stop" Muslim Terrorists. Ya, right. The first thing I did when I heard was to look up how much OIL they had. Each country has over 100 million barrels of untapped oil that is KNOWN of publicly. This does NOT include the oil reserves that have been kept secret.
As far as Bush and his rich friends are concerned, the deaths of several hundred thousand "darkies" is of no consequence to them. They do not care. If you are not white, Christian and rich, you don't count unless you have something they WANT, like oil, and then it is either buy you off or kill you. Ever wonder why China is only chemmed in certain areas?? Those who have manufacturing people are safe. Those who have not been brainwashed into a corporatized mindset are expendable and get gassed.
