Phil! So good to see you!! Glad to have you here.
I know the colored skies all to well. I've taken pictures of them here in Florida too. The colors being mostly green and magenta, however I noticed your photo has quite a bit of yellow too....more rainbow, like Shield said, like oil in water. Every time I have seen these odd colored coluds & sky, it has been durng the day between 11 am to 2 pm in the afternoon. These are not at sunset.
We've had plenty of heavy trailing today too.
I wonder (and this may be a simple question) if certain subtances/chemicals give off specific colorations in the atmosphere OR if seeing these rainbow like colors, and green/magenta shades are stictly a prismatic observation?

I've seen these colors all through the sky, after heavy spray activity. It is something that people would not notice, unless they happened to be looking for it, because it is so faint. The colored sun halos and sun dogs are aother story. They are too obvious. If I'm not mistaken, plain ice crystals reflect the entire spectrum of light. This would explain the white sun halos and sundogs that we, ONCE IN A WHILE, used to see in the past.
