 Loop surveillance grids

Hey Iggy Posted 7-20-2002 02:58

I agree, there is so much to talk about. I feel bad that I don't put in as much time as I used to. The summer session (college) kicked my butt. I've been lucky if I have time to check my e-mail. I finally got a ditigal camera and I have to take the pictures of the loop serveillence grids to show you guys what's going on down here. Pretty wild.

Loop surveillance grids?

What's that?

Hey your board has too many pop ups...

Grids Posted 7-21-2002 03:12

I get one pop-up when I first open and then a few more from time to time. It's annoying as hell. Atleast they fall behind the main screen.

The grids are being put in all over the highways. I found an on-line picture somewhere..I'll post it...but I want to take pictures of our area. they are embedded into the asphalt and skimmed over with a strip of tar. They have a current going through them at all times (I wonder if anyone can walk on the highway and get a shock?) They are called surveillance loops and I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure they coincide with surveillance satellites. I'm not sure what they are used for, but they are everywhere..even in remote areas. I saw this wild thing on TV the other day where they showed a row of cars being controlled via magnetic stripe in the road. No drivers. It was weird...AND they showed the clip using regular major highways. Al had a clever comment on what they could be too...perhaps connected to a radio controlled device that "turned-off" criminal cars (or anyone at their chosing) All very interesting. Interesting.

Let me look for any images I can show you tonight.

ILD ~ Inductive Loop Detectors Posted 7-21-2002 04:22

Here's what one looks like in MN

and this is what they look like down here:

Marshal law is a coming...where's my shotgun! Posted 7-21-2002 08:07

Interesting.....velly interesting.

As I see it Christy, there's only three possible things they could be measuring (more likely two). One....the number of cars traveling a given road per given period of time (volume). Two, the average speed of traffic. And three, the weight of the vehicles. (The latter one is probably less likely, given that they already have high speed weighing devices installed near truck scales to measure the weight of heavier commercial vehicles, and trigger a red light on the driver's pre-pass system, if an overage is detected by sensors).

The reasons would be very useful. For one, they'd want to do a study to see if roads need expanding (if the volume of traffic is exceeding safe road capacity). Secondly, they could do studies on average speed for law enforcement purposes, or also to again determine if expansion is necessary. They could be measuring the average traffic per given lane, with the car pool lane probably being the lowest...all to make things more efficient, and maybe even to decide if they need to convert the carpool lane to a regular lane. This data could be used for many other studies as well, such as how populated a given area is, and if facilities are keeping pace with population growth.

Most likely though they're just underground bombs designed to disable roads for population control purposes, under situations of planned marshal law...

Just kidding...

Underground Bombs??? Posted 7-21-2002 16:34

Oh come on. NOT funny anyway Cyster

Why bother, when you can just shut down the vehicle's.
"black box" ignition control system with an electromagnetic
pulse?

Turn Up the Volume Posted 7-23-2002 03:23

Well, according to the different websites that talk about ILDs, they're suppose to be used for volume monitering. Somewhere I saw a diagram of a highway with the detectors shown as dots of traffic. They say they cannot detect speed unless used with a two stacked loop system, one after the other, I imagine. But as for the volume monitoring...they stated that they are able to detect specific vehicles in one site I read. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out higher traffic areas. The surveillance detectors do nothing more than detect. why would the government spend SO MUCH money counting cars? The DOT admit publically of all the intrusive surveillance they do... http://www.dot.state.mn.us/guidestar/nitfinal/execsum.htm

Big Bucks are being spent for a reaon. Whenever the Feds are involved in such a big undertow, you can bet your bottom dollar there is a reason for it.

Maybe they are trap doors to the death camps? Posted 7-23-2002 05:22

Christy...you get all worked up over nothing. Let's look at this logically. The only thing a pressure pad placed beneath pavement can physically do is measure cars crossing it per given period of time (ie. volume and speed) or weight of vehicle. Now if weight is determined, type of vehicle can be determined, hence they can get a good idea for volume of commercial traffic, and determine how pavement is holding up. Think of the physics behind it Christy, and you'll find there is nothing suspicious behind this.

This is a very reasonable expenditure for making highway improvement decisions.....If surveillance was the issue, then cameras would be a better tool.

Big Brother makes Big Deals, Not Me Posted 7-23-2002 20:45

Cy, the loops are just one of a dozen forms of surveillance that the "pilot" states got... CA, FL and MN. That link I posted gave a list of what the DOT has installed...which includes cameras...and I smell a rat.

Say cheeeeeese.
