| Russia vs the Nazis It never ceases to amaze me how profoundly ignorant people today really are of history, logic, common sense, etc. The following is off another board and my response to it.

READER: I woke up in the middle of the night with a thought: World War II has never ended. Nazi's were absorbed into positions within the U.S. government and there was the organized effort, "Operation Paperclip," to rescue Nazi's out of Europe. Remember the scene in the movie "Patton" where the press was mentioning to him about his policy of putting Nazi's into his organization and then his tirade on going to war against the Russians. Let's face it: the Russians won World War II. They suffered the most with 20 million dead and they smashed the German war machine, shoving them out of Russia and driving them right back into the heart of Berlin. The Western front seemed to be more of a sideshow. More analysis of certain campaigns in the war seemed to be more against the Russians than the Germans. Remember that it was Americans, like Prescott Bush, grandfather of the current Resident, who supported Hitler and then tried to execute a coup against the United States government to bring good old fascism here before General Smedley Butler blew the whistle on them. (Of course, his grandson was able to do this from within.) Since then, the military-industrial complex sunk its teeth into our country and never let go. Constant proxy wars have continued virtually non-stop, usually with Russia as the real enemy. Even today, are the wars in the Middle East more about oil or about destroying Russian influence in the area? Why this insistence on an European missile shield? Why this obsession on Russia? Well, since it seems like World War II never ended and America can be effectively called The Fourth Reich, the Nazi's are still holding a grudge against Russia for getting their ass handed to them.
Ahem, you are ignorant in the extreme of history. You woke up with a thought? Marvelous, pity is it was mistaken.
You seem to forget that without US aid, Russia would have never been able to fight the Germans in the first place. The amount of war material and equipment the communist lover FDR sent "Uncle Joe" under lend lease (on the backs of American taxpayers) is staggering. The number the Soviets killed under their sway was much more than 20 million. They were not nice guys any more than the Nazis were- just a different face of the exact same coin. |
